AAWCC Leadership Academy
The Valencia Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges is committed to equity and excellence in education and employment for women in community colleges. Our organization recognizes the importance of professional development, leadership training, and networking opportunities for its members. Ever striving to provide the best training opportunities for its members, the Valencia Chapter in collaboration with the department of Staff and Organizational Development created its own Leadership Academy. The Academy develops strong self-management and leadership skills that focus on transferable leadership skills, rather than specific job responsibilities, so that the College may benefit from a deep, internal source of qualified talent. Our AAWCC Valencia Chapter believes that you don't have to have a title to be a leader!
The program competencies and learning outcomes are:
- Valencia Advocacy
- Personal Professional Strategy
- Resource Development
- Communication/Collaboration
The AAWCC Leadership Academy is comprised of eleven individual seminars that will be delivered in six-hour sessions. Each session runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Criminal Justice Institute, Room 135. You can use the computer lab upstairs in room 228 to check e-mail from 8-9 a.m. and from 4-5 p.m.
